And yeah, it’s very much a first draft. In fact, it’s more like “Part One” and I can see that a lot of stuff is going to have the be changed and/or fleshed out, but the main characters are there, and there are some scenes that work, and I have the basic skeleton. So, I’s gonna celebrate now.
I have decided that if I finish this thing, or at least bring it up to 50,000 words, I’m going to buy myself a Kindle for Christmas.
My novel is a horrible abortion of horrible horrific horribleness. Wait — is “horribleness” a word? Whatever — it is now.
I’ve hit a “this is stupid crappy shit” block. Sigh.
I need 4,241 words to finish! Not good. Also, there were two new spam here. Frown.
Man, November is the worst month for this. What were they thinking? I mean, most people in the US have Thanksgiving. That takes 310,000,000 (well, however many of that number are participating in Nanowrimo) out for at least a week. Even I, who don’t have any of that family shizz to worry about, have to work extra because I happened to move to the Turkey Freaking Capitol of the US and I work in a place that stores turkeys. These past two days (two days of 12 hour work days) and the previous week which was buildup to Turkey Day just killed my average. Man.
Still, I think I can finish, if I don’t slack off. Ha ha me slack off what are you thinking don’t be silly.
That’s how many I’ve written today. My fingers are going to fall off. Time to take a break. I’m now a week behind instead of two weeks behind, so it’s getting better. On the other hand, where oh where is the end of my story? Everyone is still sitting around wondering what the hell is going on. Tomorrow I’m going to try to step it up a notch — if, that is, I can still type. Owie.
I should have known — the internet has everything.
I’m not so much worried that I won’t make 50,000 words by midnight on Wednesday as I am that I will only be halfway — one third of the way — through my actual story. Somehow it doesn’t feel right to have the story I “win” with (if I win) not actually be a finished one. FML.
Okay, I did a bunch of words. I’m still not caught up, but I think I can make at least 30,000 tonight. Yeah, I wasted a bunch of time today. But the laundry needed to be done! On the other hand, I did 2,572 words in about an hour and a half. If I can keep from falling asleep (though I need to keep in mind I have to get up early tomorrow, woes) I can get another 2500 or so in, I’m sure. Maybe more. I want to at least get my characters off the planet they are on and into a new setting… I’m bored with the old one. I think, though, I’ve shown them a bunch of dead ends so they’ll get the message: nothing more to see here; time to be moving on.
Also, I didn’t get my first comment, but I got my first spam! Oh well.
